Service and Fellowship Groups
The following is a list of various groups and organizations within Christ Lutheran. Some are to help promote spiritual growth. Others are for fellowship. There are also those which provide service. Many are a combination of all three. (Acts 2:42)Sunday School
Sunday School is in session each Sunday morning of the school year. Classes are held in the education wing from 10:15 until 11:05. A ten minute singing period usually follows. All children preschool through 8th grade are invited to attend.
Vacation Bible School
Offered during summer, this school is to provide added spiritual training for our children and the children of our community. Generally one central theme is followed for the week of Vacation Bible School. This year we will be visiting “Back to Jerusalem.” Many members of the congregation are involved with V.B.S. Thanks to all who have helped.
This year V.B.S takes place the week after the fair in brained. Please set aside those days on your calendars.
Preschool through 5th grade will enjoy crafts, activities, songs, which are all centered on Bible lessons. The 6th thru 8th grade will also have jump-start classes on Luther's Catechism.
Sunday Bible Class
God's Word is examined in detail. This is done by doctrinal and topical studies, as well as book-by-book, chapter-by-chapter, and verse-by-verse studies. God's plan of salvation for all people is revealed in all of Scripture which points to the Savior, Jesus Christ. Study of God's Word gives strength for daily living and comfort in every situation, "The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and will bring me safely to his heavenly kingdom. " (2 Ti 4:18). All are welcome to join at anytime.
In Summer Sunday Bible class also welcomes adults to bring their children for our multi-generational studies which are formatted for multiple age groups. Current studies and schedules are posted at church and on our online calendar. These studies take place after Sunday worship around 10:15 and last from 45 minutes to an hour.
Confirmation Class
Confirmation is a "strengthening" of one's faith. 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students are instructed in the basic teachings of God's Word as and how it applies to a Christian's life. Luther’s Small Catechism is covered as we study the Word.
This class helps to strengthen a child's faith as he or she prepares for a life-long growth in faith. Confirmation graduates are invited join in the blessings of the Lord's Supper as communicant members. They are also encouraged to confess God's Word not only before their brothers and sisters in faith, but throughout their lives to all they meet. “Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers." (1 Timothy 4:16)
Class is held on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 until 7:30 during the school year.
We "kick start" confirmation by holding five classes during Vacation Bible School.
Tuesday Bible Workshops
This study of God's Word covers what we believe and confess at Christ. Other special workshops will also be scheduled on occasion. All are welcome and invited to join. You can explore who God is, what he is doing for you, and how that translates into your daily living. It is a Bible Class where you can bring your questions and your doubts. It is a class where you can improve your relationship with Jesus and with those around you.

Women's Bible Study

Grief Support Group
Do you suffer the loss of a loved one? This support group is meant to give you a safe small-group environment to open up and to encourage others. Pastor Barthel will serve as group leader and center discussion around God's Word. It is only under our gracious Lord that we find true healing. He promises to change our mourning to joy.
Meeting times are 11:15 to noon on Sundays. Group sizes will be limited to seven to ten persons and group members are strongly encouraged to attend all five sessions, especially the opening session.
You can bring a friend. This group is open to all who may benefit and contribute.
Our first session has started and is full. This group will meet April 18 thru May 16, 2010. Future groups will be formed and announced on the church calendar. If you would be interested in joining a future group please let pastor know.
Pastor is always available for one-on-one grief counseling.
Kids for Christ
The Kids for Christ welcomes all young members and their families who wish to join in fellowship activities. They usually meet on Sunday afternoons. The exact day of the month varies depending on the activity. Some of the activities have been a hayride, sliding, bowling, swimming, and a Christmas party. Because our young people are in so many different school districts, an organization such as this helps them to get to know one another better and enjoy some social activities. Come and join the fun.
Mom's Day Out
Mom's Day Out provides a one day a week break for mothers. It is for children 2 and 1/2 to 4. There are 29 sessions from September through May. The sessions run from 9:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.. Mom's Day Out provides a wide variety of activities for the children and gives us the opportunity to teach them about Jesus and his love. There is a charge for those who send their children to Mom's Day Out.
Women's Guild
Christ Lutheran Women's Guild welcomes all women of the congregation to attend its meetings and participate in its activities. The purpose of the organization is threefold:
- To grow spiritually through the study of God's Word
- To foster Christian fellowship among the members of the congregation
- To further God's kingdom in the local congregation and the Synod
Over 50's
As the name states, members of our congregation and friends who are over 50 meet together. This is usually on the third Thursday of the month. Most of the get-togethers have been at church. Generally there is a noon pot luck meal. After the meal, we have been using "19 Minute Bible Studies." These studies cover key chapters in the Bible. Over 50's is not a formal organization. It was started to give people who believe the same thing the opportunity to get together and share one another's company. If you are in the over 50 category and have not attended, do so. You will enjoy it.Choir
The choir exists to praise God by proclaiming the great things he has done. The choir is the servant of the congregation in the congregation's public praise and proclamation. The choir assists the congregation in its own praise and proclamation. It supports and enriches the congregation's singing of the hymns, adorns the Liturgy--and the gospel--with choral music, and occasionally sings its own choral anthems. This is done with the choir, cantors and soloists, and instrumentalists.
The choir also organizes annual Christmas/Easter caroling events in the community.
- All communicant members are welcome to join the choir and its smaller groups.
- Small choir groups practice 6:30-7pm Wednesdays.
- Practice for the full choir takes place 7-8pm Wednesdays.
- Please see the church calendar for exact dates.
- Cherie Wehausen currently serves as choir director.
